THE Commission on Elections (Comelec) Cebu Provincial office will no longer extend the voters’ registration for the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) elections.

Cebu Provincial Election supervisor Lionel Marco Castillano told reporters yesterday that under the voters’ registration law, there will be “no registration 90 days before the election.”

The barangay and SK elections will be held on Oct. 31. The last day of registration for new voters was last July 30, while the actual number of voters for the SK election will be determined after August 15, which is less than 90 days before the election.

As of yesterday, Comelec Cebu province recorded a total of 83,880 new registrants aged 15 to 17 years old for the SK election and another 48,108 new registrants for the barangay election during the period July 15 to 30.

Castillano said the actual number of voters for the SK election are still subject for approval by the Election Registration Board Hearing.
