A SUSPECTED swindler from Sitio Sto. Niño, Barangay Banilad, Mandaue City was arrested by the police in an entrapment operation last Wednesday afternoon.

The 19-year old suspect, Roselyn Inoc, allegedly claimed that she was endorsed by GMA-7 anchor Bobby Nalzaro to seek help from Camputhaw Barangay Captain Reponio Lequigan for her ailing father, according to Supt. Ryan Devaras, chief of Cebu City Investigation, Detection and Management Branch (IDMB).

Inoc allegedly told the barangay captain that she needed money for her father, who was sick and later died.

Devaras said Lequigan started to doubt the sincerity of Inoc as she gave conflicting reasons. Besides, Devaras said the suspect already raised a huge amount of money worth around P60,000 from Lequigan and the rest of the barangay workers.

The entrapment operation happened last Wednesday at Burger King in Barangay Kamputhaw.

Barangay councilor Ronald Anthony Librando allegedly handed over the P2,000 cash to Inoc before the arrest took place.

As of noon yesterday, Inoc was detained at the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO). She, however, refused to be interviewed by reporters. Deveras said yesterday that appropriate charges would be filed against her.

“Hilak-hilak ug luoy kaayo. Ga-istorya sa kabudlay (kinabuhi),” Lequigan told the reporters.

He said he was convinced to help because of public service.
Lequigan plans to file charges against Inoc to teach her a lesson.

Nalzaro in a phone interview, said that he signed an affidavit to support the complaint that would be filed by Lequigan.
