A wood furniture manufacturing plant at Sitio Ibabao in Barangay Agus, Lapu-Lapu City was gutted by fire past 1:00 a.m. Friday.

Lapu-Lapu City Fire Central Department received the fire alarm at 1:48 a.m. which was later raised to 3rd alarm. It was put under control at 2:56 a.m.

SFO1 Hadjiludin Samonte said that it took them a long time to control the fire because of some chemicals stored inside the plant owned by Arte Cebuana, Inc.

Samonte said there were workers in the plant when the fire broke out but no one could tell them what caused the fire.

He said they are still conducting investigation on the cause.

No other establishments were affected and no one was reported injured or killed in the fire. Damage was pegged at P350,000.
