MORE than P6 million worth of abattoir equipment were turned over to 34 local governments in the province on Monday morning.

Gov. Hilario Davide III, Provincial Veterinarian Dr. Rose Vincoy and some Provincial Board (PB) members led the turnover of the equipment to the mayors and other representatives of the recipient LGUs.

The equipment include 35 viscera inspection tables, 34 electric hog stunners, 34 evisceration platforms, 34 viscera carts and two digital weighing scales.

“We will continue to assist our LGUs. We didn’t just do this now. Since 2013, we have spent around 016.8 million for our slaughterhouses,” said Vincoy in a speech.

She said out of the 51 towns and component cities in the province, only 37 have slaughterhouses which is mandated by the Local Government Code.

Vincoy said her office has been assisting the remaining LGUs to establish their own slaughterhouses.
