Three ongoing projects by the National Grid Corp. of the Philippines (NGCP) in Cebu are expected to boost power supply in the province and the rest of the Visayas.

“I can’t possibly understate it when I say that it is energy that drives the economy. Without energy, you cannot have a thriving economy,” NGCP spokesperon Cynthia Abalanza told reporters at the sidelines of a communications enhancement workshop for government information officers on Wednesday.

Abalanza referred to two 138-kV transmission lines recently energized this week which connects their substation in Barangay Calong-Calong, Toledo City to their substation in Barangay Colon, Naga City.

The other two projects are the 138-kV lines connecting the Colon substation to the Cebu City substation that’s set to be energized by the second week of September this year and the currently suspended 230-kV Cebu City-Lapu-Lapu transmission line project.
