THE Cebu City Council asked the regional Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA-7) to submit to them the results of their investigation on the greyhound operation conducted at the Cebu City Jail this month.

Cebu City Councilor Sisinio Andales, who authored the approved resolution, said result of the investigation that they’re asking will guide and help them formulate local legislations pertaining to jail matter.

“At least we can make a law which can augment and impose stricter policies in the jails that can prevent drugs from being dealt inside the jail,” Andales said.

Last August 13, 300 policemen found more than P4.6 million in cash inside the Cebu City Jail and the Cebu Provincial Detention and Rehabilitation Center along with contraband and illegal drugs.

Andales, designated as deputy mayor for peace and order, said legislation is needed to impose stricter security inside the jail.

“At least we’ll know how these contraband slipped past the guards,” Andales said.
