A SUSPECTED drug dealer was shot in his left leg by police in a drug bust in Sitio Franco, Barangay Tindog, Medellin town at 11 a.m. Tuesday.

Police identified the 24-year-old suspect as Francis Mercader, a resident of the area. Prior to his arrest Medellin police caught Mercader’s 25-year-old accomplice identified as Regie Noynay in another drug bust.

Noynay was arrested after handing over one sachet of shabu to a policeman posing as a buyer. Mercader was shot by police after he pulled out his gun and tried to shoot them.

SPO1 Ryan Castro of the Medellin police said Mercader was a long time operator while Noynay was previously arrested for illegal drug possession at a checkpoint in Daanbantayan town three years ago.

Mercader helped Noynay post bail. Recovered from their possession were 11 small sachets of shabu and one loaded revolver. Mercader is placed under hospital arrest at the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center (VSMMC).
