A man died after he was hit by a truck along MC Briones Street, Barangay Guizo, Mandaue City around 10 a.m. Friday.

Alberto Cuyos, 55, a resident of Tayud, Liloan, was brought to the Chong Hua Hospital in North Reclamation Area but was declared dead by attending physician.

According to PO3 Rolando Gelido, traffic investigator from the Mandaue City Police Office, Cuyos parked his motorcycle at the center island, left his vehicle and then crossed the street

An incoming truck owned by IPI and driven by Ranel Diamante hit Cuyos, causing his death.

“Unang naka igo niya ang van pero igo ra siya nakayaka, pag-agi naku (truck) kalit siya ni dive ilawom sa akong truck. (He (Cuyos) was first hit by a van, causing him to fall, but when I passed by he suddenly dove underneath the truck,” Diamante narrated to the police.

Gelido said that according to the victim’s co-worker, Cuyos was a liaison officer of Deo Homes and had been absent for two days already.

“Dili ta maka-ingon nga suicide to iyang gibuhat (We could not conclude yet that he committed a suicide),” Gelido said.

The driver is now temporarily detained at Mandaue City Police Office (MCPO).

As of this writing, Cuyos’ family or his relatives have not yet come forward to coordinate with the police.
