A man in his forties was shot dead by police officers during a buy-bust operation in Barangay Bangbang, Cordova at 1:29 a.m. on Friday.

Edward “Pyanga” Tarroza died after police officers shot him twice in the chest when he pulled out a gun during a buy-bust operation led by Senior Insp. Jomar Medel of the Cordova Police Station, said PO1 Mark Ronald Pacina, Cordova police investigator.

Pacina said that Tarroza allegedly recognized the undercover police officer as the buyer and pulled out a gun.

Pacina said that Tarroza was one of the drug suspects who were on their Oplan Tokhang list, but he did not heed the call to surrender and instead allegedly continued his illegal drug activities.

Police also recovered a .45 caliber pistol, five packs of suspected shabu and the P250 marked money from the suspect.
