One died while five were hurt in a road accident that occurred at Barangay Magdugo, Toledo City at 5 pm last Saturday.

PO3 Carlos Barluado, desk officer of the Toledo City police precinct, identified the 48-year-old victim as Eduardo Liogan, a resident of Pinamungajan town.

He was rushed to the Toledo City District Hospital but failed to make it.

Those injured were identified as 18-year-old Jeanyvie Laraño of Pinamungajan town, 30-year-old Jundiel Oyao of Barangay Ibo, Toledo City, 62-year-old Cepriano Sarsa of Barangay Malubog, Toledo City, 26-year-old Michael Sardual of Barangay Casoy, Toledo City and 26-year-old Reggie Cabanse of Barangay Talavera, Toledo City.

Barluado said a Calvo passenger bus driven by Apolinario Bacarro, a resident of Barangay Lot-od, Pinamungajan town was headed to Balamban town when it hit the rear portion of a mini dump truck.

The truck owned by WTG Construction and driven by 55-year-old Raul Abella of Barangay Bunga, Toledo City was loaded with sand when it was hit by the truck.

The force of the collision shattered the bus’ right windshield and passengers who sit near the window seat were thrown out.

With no ambulance nearby, motorists that passed by the area rushed the injured to the Toledo City district hospital located eight kilometers away.

Bacarro is detained at the Toledo City police precinct pending the filing of charges against him by the families of the victims.
