LTFRB to suspend liner’s franchise for accident

The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB-7) will suspend anytime today the franchise of a passenger bus that figured in an accident in barangay Magdugo, Toledo City last Saturday evening.
Regional LTFRB Director Ahmed Cuizon said Calvo Bus Liner’s franchise that has seven units servicing the Cebu City-Asturias route will be suspended for a month.
“All units are ordered to stop operations and made available in the garage for onsite inspection,” Cuizon told Cebu Daily News.
A road worthiness test will be conducted at Land Transportation Office-Motor Vehicle Inspection System (LTO-MVIS), Cuizon said.
Drivers will also undergo drug test while operators must also ensure that assistance is given to all injured passengers and the relatives of the deceased.
One died while five were hurt in an accident last Saturday. The Calvo passenger bus was driven by Apolinario Bacarro, a resident of Barangay Lot-od, Pinamungajan town.
The passenger bus was headed to Balamban town when it hit the rear portion of a mini dump truck.
The truck owned by WTG Construction was loaded with sand at the time and was driven by 55-year-old Raul Abella of Barangay Bunga, Toledo City.
