WHEN it rains, it pours.
After her Best Actress nomination to 2016 International Emmy Awards and her blockbuster hit “The Achy Breaky Hearts,” Kapamilya actress Jodi Sta. Maria will work on another film under Star Cinema.
This time, she will be paired with actors JC De Vera and Joseph Marco for the movie which has the working title,” Dear Other Self.”
In June this year, Jodi’s first starring role in a mainstream film opened in theaters nationwide and was met with warm reception from the audiences. The film reunited her with her TV screen partners, Richard Yap, whom she starred with in “Be Careful with my Heart,” and Ian Veneracion, her partner in “Pangako Sa ‘Yo.”
“It’s a story of a woman, her journey wherein she is torn between living the life that she dreamed of versus caring for those people that she loved,” said Jodi of her new film.
She said that she is thankful to Star Cinema for giving her another film project and opportunity to portray a character that many people can relate with.
“Nakakatuwa din na very relatable ang mga kuwento na nagagawa natin and isa pa, thankful din ako sa mga dumarating na proyekto kasi kakaiba. Kumbaga iba naman. Basta marami sila ng matutunan at kikiligin sila,” she said.
Blessings came pouring in for the actress after she recently bagged the P1 million cash prize from ABS-CBN’s “Minute to Win It,” to her
Emmy nomination, and now for the upcoming film.
Asked how she is able to relate herself with the character she will portray in the film, Jodi said that love should not just be about pure excitement and adventure, there should also be stability and security between the partners.
“Hindi naman pwedeng stability and security tapos boring naman so parang feeling ko na importante din na balanse,” she said.
Asked about her life at the moment, she answered with a smile, “Balanseng-balanse.”
Jodi is scheduled to fly to New York for the International Emmy Awards night on November 21.
“Na-e-excite ako kasi alam ko na marami akong artistang makikita doon and of course to be nominated alongside Judi Dench ay isang napakalaking bagay at karangalan,” she said.
