UNIVERSITY of the Philippines Cebu will celebrate its 38th annual Cookout event with the theme “Youtopia” on November 11 at the UP Cebu grounds.

Organized by the UP Cebu Student Council and Paper Plane Productions, the event aims to inspire and raise awareness among Filipino netizens, especially the youth, on the grim reality of a self-centered cyberspace and revisionism.

Youtopia derived from the word “utopia,” which Kel Alegre, UP Cookout production and program director, describes as a contribution of each one to create, influence and pressure a preferred world.

From 6 p.m. on November 11 up to 6 a.m. the following day, UP Cebu will be awake to showcase UPians’ talents in four segments, namely, Prestige for Rampahan, Carnival Calls for Kantahan, Feast of Fools for Sayawan, and Alter Ego for Bandahan.

Syrum Quinto, UP Cebu Student Council chairperson, said the students will perform based on the theme Youtopia.
“We envision this (activity) as a symbol of solidarity and camaraderie,” Alegre said.

Local and national bands will also be performing during the event.

Cookout entrance will be free to all UP Cebu students while non-UP students have to present their tickets. For ticket orders and inquiries, visit www.facebook.com/UPCebuCookout or contact Kel Alegre at (0922) 2260796. /UP Cebu MassCom student Crea Ocdenaria
