A village official and head of the barangay’s peace and order committee was arrested in a police drug operation in Sitio Pitogo, Barangay Singsing, Balamban, a town midwest of Cebu.

Francis Eric Dacua, 39, an elected barangay councilor and chairman of the Barangay Peace and Order Committee (BPOC) of Barangay Hingatmonan, was arrested in his house at Barangay Singsing.

Operatives of the Balamban Police Station led by Senior Inspector Ramil Morpos were armed with a search warrant issued by Executive Judge Ruben Altubar of the Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 29 in Toledo City.

Recovered from Dacua’s possession were a medium pack and ten sachets of suspected shabu (methamphetamine), weighing ten grams with an estimated street value of P118, 000, several drug paraphernalia and a loaded revolver.

In an interview with Cebu Daily News, Morpos described Dacua as a known drug personality involved in the sale and use of shabu in the area, having ride-for-hire drivers and truck drivers as his common buyers.

Dacua is now detained at the Balamban Municipal Jail while the suspected illegal drugs confiscated from him will be turned over to the Philippine National Police (PNP) Crime Laboratory for confirmatory testing.

Meanwhile, operatives of the Parian Police Station, together with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) 7, arrested a certain Richard “Kano” Mabato Wong during a drug-bust operation in Colon Street, Cebu City, at 3:25 a.m yesterday.

Recovered from the suspect were three small sachets and five medium packs of shabu with an estimated street value of P41, 500.
