Police are calling on the public to help identify a woman who was found dead on Monday morning near a mountain road in Barangay Guimbangcoan, Sibonga town in southern Cebu, which is a town 60.7 km from Cebu City.

The woman, who was wearing a black shirt with the No. 10 and Endurance printed on it, maong pants and a doll shoes, was found by residents in the area at around 7 a.m., said PO2 Ederlino Bacusmo of the Sibonga Police Station.

Bacusmo said the woman also had in her possession a pouch with 2 silver rings and she also wore a Casio wristwatch.

He also described the woman’s height at 5’2″, and she had shoulder length hair.

No one in the barangay recognized the dead woman who had a wound in her chest.

There were also no IDs or cell phones found in her possession that could have identified her.

Bacusmo said that the body of the woman was being autopsied to determine the cause of her death.

According to initial investigation, Bacusmo said that residents heard the sound of two loud blasts, similar to a gun firing, the night before in the area, which was three to five km from the national highway.

However, residents told him that they thought the blasts were just part of the sounds of the night in the area and did not mind it all.

Bacusmo said if the woman could be identified, then perhaps they could find out who was with her the night before, which could help police to find out who did this to her.
