Provincial disaster reduction unit places Cebu under Code Red

The Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (PDRRMO) placed the entire Cebu province under Code Red:Alert Charlie following the entry of tropical depression Marce in the Philippine Area of Responsibility.

Kathy dela Calzada of PDRRMO said they have called the different local government units (LGU) specially in the southern part of Cebu provice, which are expected to be affected by the weather disturbance, to direct them to prepare and activate their respective disaster response units.

Code Red means all local disaster response teams in every city and municipality should be on standby.

Volunteers and emergency responders were also alerted, she added.

According to Calzada, food packing is ongoing in Samboan, 150 kilometers south of Cebu City, and at the Cebu International Convention Center (CICC) as part of the province’s preparation for tropical depression Marce.
