VICE Ganda has earned another box office hit with his newest comedy film with Coco Martin “The Super Parental Guardians.”
According to Star Cinema, the film has gained P75 million in ticket sales on its Nov. 30 opening day as fans of the Kapamilya actor comedian and “It’s Showtime” host flocked to theaters nationwide to watch his latest film.
It reportedly broke the records of the movies “A Second Chance” which earned P43.3 million on its opening day November of last year, as well as “My Bebe Love” that got P60.5 million on its first day in the 2015 Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF).
“The Super Parental Guardians” follows the story of a tough-talking gang leader forced to take care of his orphaned nephews with the loud, gay friend and his late sister-in-law. The film is directed by Joyce Bernal.
It is also the debut film of child actors Simon “Onyok” Pineda and Awra Briguela, who have found fame following their stint on the ABS-CBN action drama teleserye “Ang Probinsyano.”
Despite failing to get into the MMFF this year, Vice Ganda is hoping that fans would support his film, as well as the chosen entries to the annual film festival.
On Twitter, Vice Ganda remembers the late director Wenn as he thanked supporters for watching the “Super Parental Guardians.”
“I share this success to you Direck Wenn! Thank you for preparing me for this day. I hope I’m making you happy and proud. I miss you Mader!” he tweeted.
Wenn has been directing Vice Ganda’s past MMFF entries like “The Unkabogable Praybeyt Benjamin” (2011), “Sisterakas” (2012), “Girl, Boy, Bakla, Tomboy” (2013), “The Amazing Praybet Benjamin (2014) and “Beauty and the Bestie” (2015).
Direk Wenn passed away in February due to cardiac arrest.
