It started at the house of a certain Cherryl Sarmellon in Sitio Bohol, Barangay Duljo-Fatima, Cebu City at past 11 p.m. on Thursday.

Close to two hours later, the fire has spread to nearby sitios of Sadoko, Riverside and Continental and was raised to Task Force Alpha.

As of 12:55 a.m. Friday, the fire is still in progress according to SFO1 Edwin Handayan.

He said they received the alarm at 11:14 p.m. and raised it to Task Force Alpha at 11:46 p.m., Thursday.

Handayan said firefighters were having difficulty putting out the fire because of the very narrow streets in the area.

“Naa sad tay firetrucks nga nahutdan og tubig. Tungod sa kahoot sa dalan na stuck na sila sa tunga wala na makakuha balik (There are firestrucks which already ran out of water and can’t fetch more because they got stuck due to the very narrow streets),” he said.

Cebu City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (CDRRMO) head Nagiel Bañacia said they still don’t have the exact number of families and individuals affected as of 1 a.m. as the fire is still in progress.

He said the affected families will be evacuated to the Barangay Sports Complex.

There were no reported casualties as of 1:10 a.m.
