BARANGAY Ermita chairman Felicisimo “Imok” Rupinta vowed yesterday to resign from his post if it can be proven that he receives money from drug traffickers.

In yesterday’s press conference at his office, he denied allegations in an anonymous complaint filed in the Ombudsman-Visayas that he and three other barangay officials in Cebu City are drug protectors.

He said since he became barangay chairman in 1997, he has been working hard to eliminate illegal drugs.

He said they identified four major drug suppliers in his barangay and some smaller pushers.

Rupinta said he has been visiting households to tell the drug dealers to stop and vowed to eliminate the drug problem in Ermita before the year ends.

“It hurts that I’m being called a narco-politician. It’s unfair that it also got published in newspaper headlines even if the complaint was just anonymous,” Rupinta said.

Rupinta said the complaint was intended to discredit him. Rupinta is a known supporter of former Cebu City mayor Michael Rama.
