Tallo, ex-Cesafi stars hopeful to get picked

Former two-time Cesafi MVP Macmac Tallo is excited to know where he will be taking his talents to next, as he hopes to get picked during the 2016 PBA D-League Draft later this month.
Though the 6-foot-1 guard of Southwestern University still has one more playing year left in the Cesafi, the son of one-time PBA guard Mark Tallo said he is ready to do the work and hopefully earn some playing time for whoever coach he will be playing for.
“I’m very excited,” said Tallo. “Pero siyempre I have my doubts kasi back to zero na naman eh. Pagkatapos hindi ko pa comfort zone.”
Tallo is part of a loaded draft pool that includes recent UAAP Finals MVP Jeron Teng and San Beda hotshots Davon Potts and Robert Bolick.
Arguably the south’s finest amateur baller since returning to Cebu from failed stints in Ateneo and La Salle back in 2013, Tallo shared that he doesn’t have any team preference but just that he wants the opportunity to showcase his skills before the national stage once again.
“Kahit saan na team, basta makalaro lang ako,” Tallo said.
La Salle hotshot Teng and San Beda dynamo Potts banner the list of 128 applicants for the 2016 PBA D-League Draft set on December 20.
Other former Cesafi standouts that applied in the draft are Far Eastern University Tamaraw Monbert Arong, a teammate of Tallo during their Cesafi title run in 2013, and Letran big Jomari Sollano, a former sentinel of the University of Southern Philippines Foundation.
Aspirants’ Cup runner-up Cafe France and Foundation Cup bridesmaid Tanduay are expected to be the title favorites this season.
However, they will be challenged by the likes of Racal, AMA Online Education, Blustar Malaysia, returnees Wangs Basketball and Jose Rizal University, and newcomers Cignal, Province of Batangas, and Manuel L. Quezon University.
