SEVEN fishermen of Barangay Six, Tuburan town in midwest Cebu who were reported missing at 11 a.m. yesterday were eventually found in Balamban town, Cebu, more than 50 kilometers away just a few hours after.

Richard Hernandez, Tuburan’s Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (DRRMO) chief, said the fishermen sailed on board a vessel named Sto. Rosario at the Tuburan port at 5:30 a.m. last Thursday only to experience trouble 30 minutes later.

One of the fishermen called up his girlfriend to tell her that they were having problems with their engine at sea near the area of Tagaytay, Tañon Strait in Tuburan town.

The fishermen’s relatives were unable to contact the fishermen again and they reported the incident to the DRRMO.

After searching the area where the fishermen reported their location, Hernandez said they received a call from their counterparts in Balamban town, who said the fishermen were found alive in the area.

Hernandez said the fishermen were headed back to Tuburan while their vessel is docked at Balamban town.
