KENNY Demecillo will have a chance to win a second regional belt when he embarks on his first fight abroad against a fellow Filipino boxer on March 11 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Center.

The 24-year-old Demecillo, an iron-chinned and a relentless fighter from the Omega Boxing Gym, will be taking on Mark Anthony Geraldo of Valencia City, Bukidnon for the World Boxing Organization (WBO) Oriental bantamweight title.

Demecillo is the current World Boxing Federation Asia Pacific bantamweight champion with 12 wins (7KOs), three losses and two draws.

“We at OPSI (Omega Pro Sports International) are excited with the recent developments for our boxing program with this break for Kenny, Jason Canoy fighting for the WBF bantamweight championship in South Africa on March 31, and the staging of Who’s Next? 4, all of these in March. But we aren’t taking Geraldo lightly. He’s a veteran with a lot of experience,” said OPSI president Pio Paulo Castillo.

Demecillo, who is on a two-fight winning streak and has not lost in his last five fights, will surely be tested by Geraldo, who has 33 wins (15KOs), seven losses and three draws.

Geraldo is the only boxer to have beaten International Boxing Federation world super flyweight champion Jerwin Ancajas.

Geraldo is a former WBO Asia Pacific youth super flyweight champion and has fought former world champion McJoe Arroyo and OPBF super flyweight champ Takumi Inoue.

The Demecillo-Geraldo fight will be one of the undercard fights in the card headlined by Rex Tso and Hirofumi.
