Fluor, VSMMC down foes in ASPA Cup tourney

FLUOR and the VSMMC came away victorious in their matches in the URBAN Basketball League – ASPA CUP 2017 last weekend at the City Sports Club Cebu basketball courts.

VSMMC pulled off a 71-69 win over MDC even as Fluor overwhelmed the Focus, 74-53.

Dexter Dimaano and Giovanni Canceko paced the winning charge of VSMMC as they each scored 16 points with the former nearly pulling off a double-double with eight rebounds.

Vernon Santos also lorded it over the shaded lane as he piled up 15 points, 19 boards and three blocked shots to help his squad win for the fourth time in seven games.

Martin Tabones scored 18 points to lead MDC, which fell to 2-4 (win-loss).

Fluor, on the other hand, got a huge 17-point, 10-rebound outing from wingman Criz Matunog to carry them to the resounding win.

Vincent Enad also helped the team snatch their third win in five tries with 15 markers.

Focus remained winless in five games so far in this competition despite getting 20 points and 16 boards from Archie Flores.
