The Cebu Provincial Development Council (PDC) has approved around P90 billion worth of projects for 2018 budget appropriations.

During the full council meeting yesterday, the PDC on mass motion also endorsed the approved budget to the Regional Development Council in Central Visayas (RDC-7) for it to be included in the list of priority programs, activities and projects (PAPs) of all national government agencies for next year.

The big chunk of the budget goes to infrastructure, which is under the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).

The projects include roads, slope protection, drainage, bridges, flood control, and local infrastructure, among others.

Provincial Planning and Development Officer Architect Florentino Nimor Jr. said the provincial districts proposed budgets ranged from P7 million to P23 billion.

The first district proposed P5.4 billion, second district asked for P19.095 billion budget, third district proposed P3.3 billion, fourth district submitted the lowest proposal at P7.7 million, fifth district proposed P2.5 billion, and sixth district has the biggest with P23.4 billion.

The sixth district is composed of Mandaue City and the towns of Consolacion and Cordova.

Aside from infrastructure projects, the PDC also set aside P18 billion worth of PAPs for education.
