12 bouts in ‘Contender’ boxfest

IT’S GOING to be an action-packed Saturday at the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel and Casino as the Citigym’s “Contender” boxing tournament gets underway, starting at 4 p.m.

The 11th edition of the boxing series will feature 12 fights.

Each fight will be a three-rounder showdown with two minutes per round.

Facing off in the welterweight division are Eboy Pantilcone and Justin Ybañez, while John Camanes and Rafael Lupian will duke it out in the lightweight division.

Trading leathers in the flyweight division Arquiz Tevez and Lembert Cainap, while Joevan Cusini and Rico Galang face off in the super middleweight division.

Sean Red “The Winter Soldier” Fernan will take on Pompy Rallos, while Yoshiki Kawanabata will clash with Paul Canta in light flyweight division.

Mardie Cardie Cardino will test the mettle of Frets Matobato in the light flyweight divison, while Pet “The Thor” Dakay will battle Jake “Shokoy” Mayuela in the light heavyweight division.

Fighting in the super heavyweight category are Luigi Gaid and Kim Tae Hun, while female participants Deniece Samantha Macapagal and Cylbi Grace Ang will vie for the light welterweight title.

The super flyweight division will pit Marvin Pumar and Roel “Sniper” Sumabong, while Mark Selma and Russ Evan Yap fight for the heavyweight crown.
