A total of P1.6 million worth of shabu was confiscated by the police in two separate operations in Lapu-Lapu City yesterday dawn.

The elements of City Drug Enforcement Unit headed by Senior Insp. Joey Bicoy conducted a buy-bust operation around 4:50 a.m. yesterday in Sitio Mahusay, Barangay Punta Engaño, resulting in the arrest of Daren Cabahug, 30, of Sitio Ibabao, Barangay Pusok; Louie Jay Durano, 22, of Sitio Soong, Barangay Mactan; and Richard Roda, 26, of Sitio Mahusay, Barangay Punta Engaño.

Police seized from them P802,400 worth of suspected shabu weighing 68 grams, P2,100 cash believed to be proceeds from the illegal drug trade and P300 buy-bust money.

In another operation, another team from the same unit also conducted a buy-bust operation in Barangay Mactan at past 5 a.m. yesterday.

Three persons were arrested, namely John Carlo Bahio, 22; and Michael Roa, 30, both of Barangay Mactan; and David Dayocot, 28, of Barangay Mabolo, Cebu City.

Seized from them were 50.6 grams of suspected shabu worth P597,080 based on the Dangerous Drug Board value, a bundle of counterfeit bills amounting to P15,000, real P500 bill and P1,100 cash believed to be proceeds from selling shabu.

Bicoy said these persons were not in their target list. He said they just learned from an informant that they were selling shabu.

Meanwhile, five other drug suspects were arrested in other anti-drug operations in the municipality of Liloan and the cities of Toledo and Talisay.

Arrested in Barangay Tayud, Liloan, around 12 midnight yesterday was Alexander Caya, 54, of Barangay Calero.

Chief Insp. Franco Rodulf Oriol of Liloan Police Station led the operation that resulted in the arrest of the suspect and confiscation of five small sachets of illegal drugs believed to be shabu worth P4,000.

Oriol said the suspect had already surrendered to the police but allegedly went back to his illegal drug activities.

In Talisay City, a certain John Carlo Baguio, 23, of Barangay Tangke was arrested by operatives headed by SPO4 Roland Andales during a saturation drive at around 11 p.m. last Friday. Seized from him were 20 small sachets containing alleged shabu, said PO2 John Cyrus Ilustrisimo of Talisay Police Station.
