GOD, NOT SELF

Does God need human beings?

Not so, a priest said.

“God does not need us for Him to be happy or to be complete. He created human beings out of love. He created us, not because He needs us but because He loves us,” he said.

The priest gave the message as he exhorted parishioners to avoid being self-centered and focus on being God-centered.

SOMETHING WRONG

Even before he was elected to his post, President Rodrigo Duterte vowed to reduce crimes in the country.

Was he able to do it?

“Drug suspects are killed here and there. The number of unsolved crimes simply indicates that there is something wrong with the system,” a broadcaster said.

POORLY EXECUTED

The police arrest a number of drug suspects every day, but is that proof of success in the government’s war on illegal drugs?

A man said a friend who works in court told him that 70 percent of drug cases ended either in dismissal or the acquittal of the suspects.

“People don’t know how poor the cases filed by the police have been. They should retrain and cleanse their ranks of corrupt cops,” he said.
