A FORMER member of a city-organized allied forces in Lapu-Lapu City was shot dead by an unidentified assailant on Friday evening.

Mark Cosep, 27, of Sitio Soong 1, Barangay Mactan, Lapu-Lapu City died on the spot after sustaining gunshot wounds on his head and back.

PO3 Joseph Rouel Cutanda of the Homicide Section said that based on the accounts of some witnesses the victim was buying cigarette from a street vendor when the backrider of a motorcycle shot him several times. The witnesses, however, failed to identify the gunman and the driver of the motorcycle as they both wore full face helmets.

Police learned that the victim was stabbed by an unidentified person a few months ago allegedly due to jealousy but survived. The victim was a former member of City of Lapu-Lapu Allied Forces chaired by Basak Barangay Captain Isabelito Darnayla. Police are still determining the motive of the crime.
