The University of the Visayas (UV) added another title to its ever-growing collection as it ruled the boys division of the SBP 3X3 Pambansang Tatluhan Regional Finals last weekend at the Sisters of Mary Boystown School in Minglanilla.

The trio of Beirn Laurente, Joshua Yerro and Jearolan Omandac dethroned the reigning champions Cebu Ballers, 15-13, in overtime in the finals to come away with the cash prize of P10,000 and Chooks to Go gift packs.

Most importantly, UV earned the right to represent the region in the SBP 3X3 Under 17 Pambansang Tatluhan national finals on May 5 and 6 at the Robinsons Place Manila.

Still, UV had to sweat it out in the endgame in order to hack out the close win over the Cebu Ballers, which, ironically, was composed of UV stalwarts Froiland Maglasang, Osias Padilla and Joshua Canoy.

Omandac dominated during the finals and led the way with eight points while Yerro added four, and Laurente pitched in three.

UV swept all three of its elimination round assignments before ousting Don Bosco B, 15-12, in the Round of 16. In the quarterfinals, UV eliminated Don Bosco A, 14-12, before routing Toledo, 17-9, in the semis.

The Cebu Ballers did not go empty-handed as they walked away with P3,000 while third-placers Toledo got P2,000.

In the distaff side, the Abellana National School retained their title with a 14-11 victory over Cebu Province-Carmen.

ANS was composed of Jhiane Janel Ferrolino, Kathrine Kaye Pacada, Fllorence Gil Talas and Darleine Ragasajo.
