An Australian national died after he was hit by a passing vehicle while trying to cross the national highway in Barangay Lipata, Minglanilla on a rainy Sunday dawn.

Parker Bruce David, 74, was already dead when brought to the South General Hospital in Naga City.

Superintendent Dexter Calacar, chief of the Minglanilla Police Office, said David may have died from the impact of his fall into the cemented highway after he was hit by a Honda Civic driven by Ericson Nebril, 28.

A dent can be found on the bumper of Nebril’s car.

Investigation conducted by SPO1 Dante Valiente showed that Parker, who resides in the Countryside Village in Barangay Lipata, was walking on the sidewalk of the highway’s northbound lane when the incident happened.

David was about to cross to the other side of the highway at around 3:30 a.m. on Sunday when he was hit by the vehicle Nebril was driving on his way to the Minglanilla Central School to watch the annual staging of the town’s Sugat Kabanhawan.
