Gujilde reminds voters of registration deadline

PROVINCIAL election officer Ferdinand Gujilde reminded the public to register now as the registration for the SK and Barangay elections ends on Saturday, April 29.

“If possible, we should not wait for the last day of registration. It’s better if you register today or at your available time because by Saturday, we expect a throng of people to flood the office plus we have a cut-off time of 3 p.m.,” Gujilde said.

But Gujilde said the decision whether or not to allow voters who have already started falling in line to register even after the 3 p.m. cut-off lies on the election officer.

“It depends on the discretion of the election officer because our registration is not just about filling up the necessary forms but includes biometrics. That’s why voters should avoid registering on the last day,” Gujilde added.

Gujilde said that even if there are talks that the barangay elections set on October this year would be postponed, their registration would not be affected and their registration status stays.

As of April 22, the Commission on Election (Comelec) Provincial office recorded a total of 2,832,327 registered regular voters and 1,068,376 youth voters for Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) electiion. /Correspondent IZOBELLE T. PULGO
