Aussies to headline 5150 Triathlon in Subic

AUSTRALIAN triathletes will be among the top contenders in the Regent 5150 Triathlon that will be held at the Acea Subic Bay in Olongapo on June 4.

Sam Betten, the defending champion of the men’s pro division of the race, will be joining the 1.5-kilometer swim, 40K bike and 10K run race organized by Sunrise Events Inc. (SEI).

As of May 18, more than a hundred triathletes have already enlisted to join the race with 10 professional triathletes vying for supremacy in the pro division.

Joining Betten is fellow Aussie triatheltes Dan Brown, Mitch Robins, Annelies Jeffries, Ben Allen, Dimity Lee Duke and Kerry Mulholland. Other pro triathletes vying in the race are Hungarian Anna Eberhardt, Kiwi Laura Wood and American Iain Alexandridis.

Cebuano John Philip Dueñas will be competing in the Asian-elite category along with Boholano Paul Jumamil, Banjo Norte, August Benedicto, Tom Navasero and Manuel Dela Serna.

The race is part of a series of tune-up triathlon events leading to the Cobra Ironman Philippines on August 6.
