TODAY’S MetroSports Center annual Summer Badminton Tournament will not only be a battle among Cebu’s best shuttle smashers but will also feature of some out-of-town players.

This after entries from Bacolod (United Shuttler Alliance), Iligan, Maasin and Puerto Princesa confirmed their participation in one of the most awaited badminton tournaments in Cebu.

And manning the local fort are players from Danao, Carmen, Mandaue (Patts’ group), Mactan (Mactan Poona Zone), Banilad (Racquet Zone), Talisay, Carcar, City of Naga and Toledo who will vie for the top spot in their respective age groups and categories today.

The winning pairs for Level CD – Men’s, Women’s and Mixed Doubles categories will receive P3,000 cash and medals while their runners-up will pocket P1,000 plus medals.

Level E champions for all three categories will get P2,500 plus medals while their runners-up will get P1,000 plus medals. Level F victors will bag P2,000 and medals while the runners-up will settle for P1,000 and medals.

Level G winners will pocket P1,500 cash plus medals and their runners up will receive P1,000 with medals.

Meanwhile, winners in the Age Group level will receive P1,500 with medals and their runners-up P1,000 plus medals.

Registration will start at 8 a.m. and first round of matches will commence at 9 a.m.

The tournament’s major sponsors are Club Ultima, Crown Regency Hotel & Towers, Park n’ Go Bakeshop, Pocari Sweat, Graphic Star, Ms. Mariam Acompañado and Mr. Cheeng Mun.

Minor sponsors are Nature’s Spring, Mr. Steve Chi, Cocina de Mercedes care of Diko Ong with CEBU DAILY NEWS as the official media partner.
