Minglanilla edges out Talisay in Gov’s Cup

MINGLANILLA started its quarterfinal round campaign with a close 80-78 win over the depleted Talisay City Aqua Stars in the South Division of the 2017 Cebu Governor’s Cup 21-Under Inter-Cities/Municipalities Basketball Tournament at the Samboan Municipal Court last Saturday night.

Mark Justine Nebril led the way for Minglanilla with 21 points, Marc Glen Nebril donated 17, Jiesel Tarrosa tallied 15 and Jan Josehn Mangaron chipped in 14.

Jhiey Paraldo fired a game-high 33 points but Talisay couldn’t overcome the absence of three key players.

Two other teams also kicked off their quarterfinal campaigns on a strong note.

Dalaguete asserted its mastery over Samboan, 76-65, while Toledo City downed Barili, 88-79.

Action shifts to the Mandaue City Sports and Cultural Complex for the start of the quarterfinal action in the North Division.

Balamban clashes with Bantayan at 5 p.m., Bogo City tangles with Consolacion at 6:30 p.m., while the main game will have Mandaue hosting Tuburan at 8 p.m.
