An aeronautic student was arrested this evening in Pier 3, Cebu City after he was caught with marijuana in his luggage as he was passing through an x-ray machine at the port’s terminal in Barangay Tinago, Cebu City.

The student, Christopher Fuliache, 18 and a native of Barangay Eastern of the town of Hilongos Leyte, was going through inspection prior to boarding his vessel bound for Hilongos at around 8:30 p.m. when a small green canister of a brand of chewing gum in his luggage registered suspicious content as it went through the x-ray machine, according to Inspector Preya Gestopa, the duty officer of the port police.

When the canister was opened, it was found to contain pieces of marijuana leaves weighing about 23.08 grams, said Gestopa.

Fuliache is now held at the detention facility of the Philippine Port Authority in the city’s North Reclamation Area pending the filing of illegal drug possession charges against him on Monday, Gestopa said.
