A RETIRED schoolteacher died in a collision with a tricycle along the national highway in Barangay Balud, Dalaguete town in southern Cebu last Friday afternoon.

Dalaguete police identified the 74-year-old victim as Precilo Plando, a resident of Barangay Daanlungsod, Alcoy town.

He rode on a motorcycle driven by his 33-year-old son Jose Earl Plando, who survived the collision along with his five-year-old son Roel Christian.

PO3 Reynaldo Vedas of the Dalaguete police said the family were headed south, while the tricycle driven by Johnson Aliñabon overtook another tricycle driver and encroached on the opposite lane, colliding with the Plandos.

The collision threw the elder Plando off the motorcycle, and he hit his head on the road. His son and grandson sustained injuries.

Aliñabon is detained at the Dalaguete Police Precinct pending the filing of charges of reckless imprudence resulting in homicide and multiple injuries with damage to property against him.
