The driver that hit a four-year old girl and her 13-year old older sister at Sitio Saac II in Barangay Mactan, Lapu-Lapu City last Sunday evening surrendered to police headquarters the following evening.

Flavio Taganahan, a 38-year-old native of Bohol province now living in Barangay Suba-basbas, Lapu-Lapu City works as a driver of a restaurant in Barangay Suba-basbas.

“Wala man gyud ko’y tuyo nga motago pero nakuyawan lang gyud ko nga basin og hilabtan sa mga tawo (I don’t really have the intention of hiding but I was just really afraid the people might harm me),” Taganahan said.

He admitted drinking a few bottles of beer before heading back to the restaurant and he failed to notice that he hit the victims. Taganahan said he learned that he was being hunted by the police from his wife who saw the news on the accident.

Taganahan said he will try to settle with the family with the help of his employer and insisted that what happened was an accident.

Four-year-old Ariana Veliganio’s remains were brought home for a wake and she will be buried on Friday this week.

Her 13-year old sister named Antonette Veliganio remains in stable condition at a hospital. The family is said to be willing to agree to a settlement.
