AFTER a successful inaugural staging of the Cebu Governor’s Cup 21-Under Inter-Cities/Municipalities Basketball Tournament, the Cebu Provincial Sports Commission (CPSC) is now looking to boost the local volleyball scene.

This as the CPSC plans to start the Cebu Governor’s Volleyball Cup after the Cesafi volleyball season.

CPSC executive director and Atty. Ramil P. Abing relayed to Cebu Daily News that they are already starting to determine the pool of referees who will officiate the tournament, which will pit the best spikers from all over Cebu.

“We target the opening on end of September or the first week of October,” Abing said. “It should be after the Cesafi volleyball season.”

The Cesafi volleyball season is projected to start in September and is likely to end around October.

Should the tournament push through, Abing added that it will feature four divisions: the 17-under men’s and women’s classifications and the 12-under boys’ and girls’ categories.

Currently, the CPSC is finalizing its lineup for Batang Pinoy Visayas qualifier, scheduled on Sept. 23 to 29 in Dumaguete City and is in preparation for their Anniversary Futsal Tournament on Aug. 19 to 20 and its Anniversary Run slated on Aug. 27.
