Tropical depression ‘Gorio’ brings rains to Visayas

A LOW pressure area east of southern Luzon has now developed into a tropical depression to be named “Gorio” by the state weather bureau Pagasa.

The eye of tropical depression Gorio was located 565 km east of Legazpi City, Albay as of 4 pm Tuesday.

Gorio is packing maximum sustained winds of 55 kilometers per hour and gustiness of up to 65 kph.

Pagasa said Gorio is projected to move north northwest at 15 km/h and is expected to move 685 km east of Casiguran, Aurora Wednesday afternoon.

Moderate to heavy rains are expected within the 300 km diameter of the tropical depression.

“Gorio” is also enhancing the southwest monsoon or Habagat, bringing moderate to heavy rainfall in sections of Luzon and Visayas.

No tropical cyclone warning signal has been raised yet.
