THE UNIVERSITY of Cebu (UC) table paddlers are set to represent the country in two international tournaments this month.

The Webmasters, who are coming off a captivating stint in the Private Schools Athletic Association (Prisaa) in Iba, Zambales, last May where they bagged 15 of the 16 gold medals at stake, left for Malaysia yesterday to compete in the 12th Universiti Teknologi MARA International Sports Fiesta slated on Aug. 2 to 6.

Redemption will be on the hearts and minds of the Webmasters team in the Malaysia tournament after failing to defend their crown last year in the mixed team competition, losing to Thailand.

“We will try to win as much as possible because we are prepared. This August will be a time for UC athletes to be part of big tournaments and compete against world-ranked players,” said UC mentor Jessica Honoridez.

After Malaysia, the Webmasters will take a short break before heading to Taipei City, Taiwan, on Aug. 19 to take part in the 29th Summer Universiade Games, which pits the best university athletes in the world.
