Village officials of Asturias nabbed for owning firearms, shabu

Two barangay officials were arrested in two separate raids in Asturias town, Cebu located 74.2 km from Cebu City at dawn Thursday.

Barangay Manguiao chairman Mario Tundag of Asturias town was arrested in a raid by police at his home at 5:40 am. Taken from his possession were one KG9 rifle placed inside a barangay ambulance parked outside his home.

Tundag said the ambulance was parked at his home because the barangay office was under construction.

Five minutes later, police searched the house of Barangay Sta. Rita councilman Camilo Dacal who yielded two .45 pistols, ammunition and one medium sized shabu.

Both men are detained at the Asturia police precinct and will face charges of illegal firearms and illegal drug possession.
