THE sun will come out today as thousands of runners swim, bike and run their way toward the finish line of the Cobra IronMan 70.3 Philippines.

Those who plan to watch the triathlon event are encouraged to bring hats and umbrellas as Metro Cebu will be experiencing a sunny day, with partly to mostly cloudy skies today. That is according to the weather bulletin issued by the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).

“Nindot gyud ang panahon para sa mga apil sa IronMan. No extreme weather disturbances nga atong nakit-an ugma (The weather will be good for those who are joining the IronMan. We have not seen any forthcoming extreme weather disturbances),” said Pagasa Visayas director Oscar Tabada.

However, Tabada warned yesterday that isolated rainshowers and thunderstorms might be experienced in the afternoon.

He also said that these rainshowers would not cause floods or trigger landslides.

Sunday’s temperature will range from 25 to 33 degrees Celsius.

Tabada added that fishermen using small vessels might also enjoy the calm sea as coastal water would be slight to moderate.

Based on Pagasa’s weather bulletin, no low pressure area has been monitored in the Philippine area of responsibility as of Saturday.

But the southwest monsoon or Habagat is still affecting the western part of Luzon and Visayas.

Occasional heavy rains and gusty winds due to thunderstorms will be experienced in these regions.

In Cebu, Tabada said, the fair weather will be experienced until Wednesday.

As of 4 p.m. of August 5, Saturday, Pagasa has recorded 15.1 millimeters of rainfall.

August has an average of 148.8 mm of rainfall, which is equivalent to 14 days of rain.
