Two from Cebu for Miss World Philippines
CEBU has two bets for this year’s Miss World Philippines.
They are candidate no. 32 Cynthia Thomalla who is representing Cebu City and Ethel Abellanosa of Tuburan, Cebu who is wearing sash number 16.
Thomalla and Abellanosa, along with 33 other beauties, were introduced during a press conference at New World Makati Hotel last August 8.
A Tourism and Events Management graduate of STI-Maasin, Thomalla was crowned Sinulog Festival Queen in 2016 and was the lead dancer of Tribu Himagulaw of Placer, Masbate.
Abellanosa, on the other hand, is also not a newbie in pageantry, having won Miss Model of the World Philippines 2016 during the Miss Tourism Philippines 2016.
She also placed first runner up during the Sinulog Festival Queen in 2015, representing Tinubdan sa Kauswagan Cultural Troupe of the Municipality of Tuburan.
Thomalla, a 21-year-old model under the Origin Model Management, posted this message on her Facebook account Wednesday: “Hello World, I am your candidate number 32 and I hope you will support and pray for me in this journey.
God bless!” In a Facebook chat, Sinulog Foundation executive director Ricky Ballesteros wished Thomalla the best of luck.
“She’s not only beautiful from the outside but beautiful inside. She’s very professional. She’s always on time on her commitments as Sinulog festival queen and she has this unique smile that radiates from the inside which is very contagious.
Her beauty is natural that she looks even more beautiful without make up and that makes one of the most beautiful Sinulog festival queen,” Ballesteros told Cebu Daily News.
Ballesteros said that he calls Thomalla as the “Anne Hathaway of Cebu.”
“I’m sure her beauty and character will make her stand out in Ms. World Philippines.
She can be a good Philippine representative to Ms. World,” Ballesteros said. The Miss World Philippines coronation night will be on September 3 at the Mall of Asia Arena.
