THE groundbreaking of the Agri-Vet building worth P500 million took place at the Capitol on Monday afternoon.

The Cebu provincial government has set aside an initial budget of P20 million to start the construction of the new three-storey building for the Provincial Agriculture and Veterinary Office.

The building will be erected beside the Cafetolio in the Capitol compound.

Gov. Hilario Davide III told reporters shortly before the ceremonial groundbreaking that the project aims to give more space for the Provincial Agricultural and Veterinary Office.

Prior to the event, a Farmers’ Day was held in the morning at the Capitol Social Hall.

Davide led the ribbon cutting to formally open the event attended by the more than 200 members of the different farmers’ groups.

Davide also turned over equipment worth P5.2 million to the 30 farmers’ associations in Cebu, which included 30 corn mills, 10 water pumps, 10 hermitic cocoons, 10 moisture meters and 30 super grain bags.

The Farmers’ Day was organized to pay tribute to the efforts of farmers.
