NOT SEVERE ENOUGH

President Rodrigo Duterte’s pledge to jail the people behind the P6.4-billion smuggled shabu that slipped past the Bureau of Customs (BOC) last May drew lukewarm reactions from netizens, who think it was too little too late.

Thomas Hofer II said, “I think that’s not enough, Sir. Digong used to go wild even with a gram of shabu. Now that this issue involves billions, your reaction is quite late.”

Jeff Kristoffer Pontilla echoed the same sentiment. “They probably deserve more than just imprisonment.”

Facebook user Agdon Lyndon said those responsible for allowing the smuggled shabu to slip through deserve severe punishment. “Kill the root so it will no longer grow and destroy many lives.”

Virn VIllagracia was more considerate. “I hope this isn’t a hyperbole. May the president fulfill his promises. Let’s just wait and see.”
