Cesafi All-Star team vows to give F2 Logistics a good fight
THE CEBU Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. (Cesafi) volleyball All-Star team know that their odds of pulling off a victory against the F2 Logistics Cargo Movers is next to impossible.
But still, the Cesafi team vowed to give a good fight when they meet the Philippine Super Liga powerhouse on Friday and Saturday at the University of San Carlos (USC) Main gym.
Cesafi All-Star head coach Grace Antigua of the University of San Jose-Recoletos (USJ-R) admitted that the Cargo Movers are really too talented with players such as UAAP Season 79 Most Valuable Player Desiree Cheng and national team members Kim Fajardo, Aby Marano and Dawn Macandili.
“I’m a hypocrite if I would say that we can win against them. They are a strong team but we will give our best shot,” said Antigua in Sunday’s practice at the University of Southern Philippines Foundation (USPF) gym.
Although the All-Star team that was revealed in a report by Cebu Daily News last August 27 raised some eyebrows online, Antigua said that she did not change anything because she wants every member-school to be represented in this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
The All-Star squad which was announced last month was comprised of Debbie Mae Gamboa, Cris Jezza Estose and Marie Malagar of USC, Linlyn Torado, Sheen Durango, Paula Maninang, Daniella Alfeche and Jackie Singson of USJ-R, and Jan Gayo and Cristylyn Seludo of USPF.
Completing the squad were Therese Ramas, Dij Rodriguez, Janelle Cabahug and Dyan Darantinao of the Southwestern University – Phinma, and Ellen Joy Gumandoy and Christer Claro of the University of Cebu.
