GLOBAL Cebu FC is in for a tough matchup when it faces the league-leading FC Meralco Manila Sparks in the Philippines Football League (PFL) at the Cebu City Sports Center (CCSC) today.
Game starts at 4 p.m.
Global Cebu is still perfect at home, winning its last game against the Aguilas Davao FC, 3-1, last Wednesday.
That win put Global Cebu in second place in the team standings with 33 points.
But the team will be up against a powerhouse in FC Meralco Manila Sparks, who lead the league with 40 points.
Global Cebu has nine wins, six draws and four losses while the Sparks have 12 wins, four draws and two defeats.
“This is our third game in seven days so recovery is of utmost importance,” said Global Cebu’s head coach Akhbar Nawas in a pre-match press conference at the Golden Prince Hotel.
The Sparks’ most recent match was against JP Voltes, which resulted to a 1-1 draw.
Meanwhile, at halftime of today’s game, the 19th Aboitiz Football Cup will hold its opening ceremonies.
