TOYOTA Team Cebu (TTC) vowed to come back even stronger in the aftermath of Jette Calderon’s disqualification in Race 5 and 6 in the Super Sporting Class during the third leg of the Toyota Vios Cup Season 4 last weekend at the Clark International Speedway in Pampanga.

The development resulted in the nullification of Calderon’s win in the final race of the said competition due to a technical infraction, according to tournament organizer JP Tuason.

TTC explained that Calderon’s vehicle was found to have been installed with a non-OEM (Original Equipment from Manufacturer) part, which resulted in his disqualification.

Yesterday, TTC led by skipper Lord Seno issued an official statement, stating that the team completely understood and respected the decision.
Oversight

“We completely understand and respect the final ruling of the scrutineering body. Jette Calderon had no knowledge of the said illegal part before and during the race,” the statement said.

“Upon investigation, GM Motorsports, the service provider of Calderon said that the part, a shim or spacer placed on the rear arms of the rear suspension, was made to align the rear wheels to the front and to correct the damage brought about by a racing incident in Race 4 of Leg 2,” it continued.

The statement went on to applaud the organizing body for policing illegal parts especially in one-make races, to further promote fairness in motorsports.

TTC also apologized for the oversight.

Finally, it said that Calderon would no longer be handled by GM Motorsports during the last leg this November. Instead, Calderon will personally be handled by his home squad, TTC.
