DEALING WITH YOUTH OFFENDERS

By: Editorial October 04,2017 - 09:12 PM

Netizens reacted to news stories on the riot staged by juvenile offenders at a Cebu City–owned facility.

Alan Schmidt wrote on Facebook, “They (Operation Second Chance Center) need juvenile work farms like the ones used in US.”

Dale Roach said, “Sending bad kids back to their parents is not the answer and just give the bad guys another turn to use the kids in crimes. Rehab or reform school is the best way to teach kids how to live a better life.”

Julie Llantino commented, “These kids need utmost disciplinary measures, but not the ones that harm them. They probably need counseling or conversations with psychologists so they can open up and share their problems so their families and the government can help find a solution.”
