The University of the Visayas (UV) Baby Lancers defeated the Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu Magis Eagles, 72-67, in Game 2 to sweep the finals series and become the new champions in the high school division of the 17th Cesafi basketball tournament Thursday night at the Cebu Coliseum.
The win also completed a clean sweep of the season as UV went 11-0, including a nine-game run through the elimination round.
Froiland Maglasang finished with a team-high 15 points to go with five assists and three steals for the champs.
Rosete bounced back from a horrendous Game 1 and put up 14 points while Beirn Laurente, who was named as the league MVP, pitched in 11.
Big man Alex Visser scored 14 points and pulled down 11 rebounds to pace Ateneo de Cebu. Franz Diaz and Patrick Yu added 13 apiece.
The Magis Eagles however, missed the usual production of Jed Colonia and Christian Manaytay, who combined for just 10 points on a 4-of-16 shooting clip.
